STARVE: All-Campus Day of Fasting and Prayer

Published: April 13, 2021

This Thursday, October 6th, several Greenville College students have organized an all-day event called STARVE. It is a day of fasting, prayer and fundraising on behalf of the extreme famine taking place in the Horn of Africa. Instead of eating during meal times, those fasting will gather by the Burritt fire pit to pray. In addition, there will be musicians stationed around campus who are fasting. They will have their cases open or a can with them to collect donations that will be sent to World Vision's Horn of Africa relief program. A portion of that evenings Vespers service will also be dedicated to corporate prayer for this issue, and all of those who have participated during the day by fasting, will gather in Luzader after Vespers to break the fast with communion.

The campus community is invited to join in the fast, prayer and worship as a communal intercession. Every class is also encouraged to open in prayer on behalf of those fasting on campus and those devastated by the famine.

This event is sponsored by Greenville Student Outreach, Vespers, and Global Impact Week.
