“The Proof Is In the Pudding.” At Greenville College, the “Pudding” Says Our Faculty Is Above the National Average

Published: April 13, 2021

According to a national sample, Greenville College students rate our classes and professors higher than national averages. Our faculty goes the extra mile to connect with students.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Randy Bergen says, "This is especially encouraging because this is the first time we have compared ourselves to a national sample. We have always believed we have great courses and excellent professors and this helps validate those beliefs."

This fall, for the first time ever, Greenville College faculty used IDEA, a nationally-standardized course evaluation tool, to evaluate current courses. GC evaluated 145 classes using this standard class evaluation tool that let us compare how our students rate our professors in comparison to professors across the nation, and we performed extremely well.

When compared to the national sample in the IDEA database, Greenville College ranks above average in both the faculty and course categories. GC Students rated 63% of the GC courses at or above average in terms of being "excellent," compared to 50% nationally. Students also rated 72% of the class professors at or above average in terms of their "excellence," compared to 50% nationally.
