Women's basketball advances to SLIAC championship

FULTON, Mo. -- The women's basketball team will play in its first SLIAC championship game as it advanced to Saturday's final with a 70-53 win over Spalding on Friday night.
Missy Deal led all Greenville scorers with a team-high 16 points and collected 10 rebounds.
Coley Baker was active in the paint as she produced 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Greenville led 18-16 after the first quarter, and a 26-11 second quarter gave Greenville a 44-27 lead at the intermission. Greenville pushed the lead to 25 in the third quarter.
The Lady Panthers absolutely dominated the glass, outrebounding Spalding by a 51-27 margin.
Guards Taylor Paulin and Claire Schmitt added double-digit scoring efforts as Paulin had 13 and Schmitt posted 10.
The Lady Panthers (19-7) will travel back to Westminster for a matchup on Saturday night at 7 p.m. as they will lock up for the SLIAC tournament championship and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA national tournament.
