Women's basketball narrowly defeated by NCAA Division II Illinois - Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The women's basketball team pushed NCAA Division II's Illinois-Springfield to the limit Tuesday with the score tied at 47 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Prairie Stars outscored Greenville 29-19 in the final period to win 76-66.
Greenville held a 52-51 lead with eight minutes left in the game. In total there were 11 ties and 18 lead changes.
The visitors cut the lead to just two points, 64-62, at the 3:47 minute mark, but a three-pointer started an 11-2 run for the hosts as the Prairie Stars went on to win, 76-66.
Greenville shot the ball well from the floor against the Prairie Stars, converting 48 percent (25-of-52) of its shots while the Prairie Stars finished at 43 percent (30-of-70).
Missy Deal posted a game-high 21 points off the bench to lead all scorers.
Laura Goodnight added 15 points, and Coley Baker posted 12 points and nine rebounds.
The Lady Panthers (4-3) travel to Iowa Wesleyan to play Buena Vista on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. before closing the December home portion of their schedule with a game against Blackburn on Saturday at 1 p.m.
