Women’s Outdoor Squad Cracks Top 10 at Washington University Invite

ST. LOUIS, Mo. Seniors Penny Grant and Kristen Schutte paced GC womens track and field in the Friday-Saturday WUSTL Invitational, accounting for 30 of the teams 32 points to help springboard the club to a 10th place finish.
The womens squad opened the 28-team invitational with one of the most impressive individual performances in Greenville College womens history. Grant went 12.21m in the 100m dash to place third, 0.01 seconds off of the GC womens track and field record of 12.20. Grant followed with a 5.70m performance in the long jump to claim the top spot and pull in 10 points. Grant is ranked 5th in all of NCAA DIII in the long jump and 7th in the 100m.
Fellow senior Schutte continued her strong 2012 campaign with a pair of top-five finishes in the meet. The four-year letterwinner earned 3rd in the hammer (45.26m) and 2nd in the javelin (40.03m) to snag 14 points.
Womens track and field will return to the track on Saturday, April 7 as they make tracks back to the campus of WSTL for the Wash U. Select meet.
