ST. LOUIS, Mo. GC womens soccer saw their nine-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night as conference foe Webster eked past the Panthers 2-1 in St. Louis.

Senior Rachel Irwin led the Panthers in the losing effort, notching GCs lone goal while taking two shots.

The visiting GC squad fell to an early 1-0 first half deficit as the Gorlocks drew first blood and took the lead at 19:00. In the second period Greenville buried an equalizer as Irwin netted a ball off a free kick attempt from fellow senior Jackie Seivert. After the Panthers had tied the game at 1-1 in the second, Websters Morgan Milfeld scored on a scramble in front of the Greenville net off a corner kick that would prove to be the game winner and serve GC the 2-1 heartbreaker.

With the win, Webster now sits at 10-4-1 (6-0 SLIAC) overall on the season, and will face Principia College, also undefeated in the SLIAC, on October 22 at the Soccer Park in St. Louis.

After Wednesday's bump, Greenville women's soccer drops to 12-5 (5-1 SLIAC) and will look to bounce back against Fontbonne on Saturday, October 22 as they host the Griffins at 1:00 pm.
