Women’s Track & Field: Philita Johnson Races to NCAA Automatic Qualifying Time

ST. LOUIS, Mo. GC womens track and field competed at the Washington University Select meet on Saturday afternoon at the WashU Bushyhead Track Complex in St. Louis, Mo. The womens efforts were headlined by junior Philita Johnsons 56.30 400m run, which ranks as the second fastest time in NCAA Division III.
Johnson also contributed to another NCAA Division III mark in the womens 4x100m dash. The combination of Penny Grant, Imari Mason, Johnson, and Rose Sanders posted a time of 48.34 and currently sit at 10th in the nation in NCAA Division III.
In the field, Kristen Schutte won the javelin throw with a toss of 122 to grab the first place spot.
Michelle Sutton led the distance competitors with a 1500m time of 4:48 and a 2:20 effort and PR in the 800-meter run.
The women notched two NCAA Division III qualifying marks and 17 NCCAA qualifying efforts.
The Greenville College womens outdoor track and field team will return to action on Friday, April 15, for the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Twilight Meet in Terre Haute, Ind., at 5 p.m. (ET).
