ST. LOUIS, Ill. Greenville Womens Track & Field competed at Washington Universitys Bushyhead Track Complex in the Washington University Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The womens efforts were led by Michelle Suttons new school record in the 5K with a time of 17:47.94, and Penny Grants NCAA qualifying triple jump of 3811.
Sutton broke the school record in the 5000 meter run with her time of 17:47 and placed ninth in the field of 61 runners.
Jumper/sprinter Penny Grant continued her track & field dominance with a third place NCAA Division III qualifying mark of 3811 in the triple jump, and a second place 181.50 effort in the long jump.
The womens hammer throw proved to be a strong event in the field for the Lady Panthers with senior Rochaunda Harris winning the contest with a toss of 46.14m and junior teammate Kristen Schutte finishing in the fifth spot with an effort of 41.33. Schuttes heave of 41.33 serves as her season and lifetime best in the event.
