Residence hall walls beginning to emerge
A large concrete pump is used to deliver concrete to the forms that will form the lower walls of the new residence hall on the Greenville University campus.

After several weeks of weather delays and site preparation work, the first walls of Greenville University’s new residence hall began to emerge from the ground last week.

Crews assembled forms on the footings and concrete was delivered to the center of the site by a large concrete pump. The first walls to be poured were on the lower part of the site, near College Avenue. Walls on the upper part will follow.

The residence hall project is being overseen by CMI General Contractors, which is owned by Charles McPherson, a Greenville University alum. The four-story, 40,000-square-foot structure will accommodate 246 beds, and will also include a student center, a food venue, and a campus store on the first floor. Additionally, classrooms for the University’s new nursing program (which is being offered through a partnership with St. John’s College of Nursing) will be located in the building.

The structure is located on the far western side of campus and will connect the University to the downtown square.
