Area singers, high school age and older, at any level of musical experience,
are invited to join rehearsals for the Greenville Choral Union and Orchestra’s 96th annual
performance of George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, a Bond County holiday tradition.
Weekly rehearsals for this year’s performance will begin on Monday, September 9 at 7 pm in
the Wilson Recital Hall at Whitlock Music Center at the corner of College Avenue and Elm Street
on the Greenville University campus. In addition to Messiah, the Choral Union will
perform Gloria by Randol Bass and A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of
Christmas by Craig Courtney, along with other Christmas carols.
This year’s annual performance of Messiah will be held on Sunday, December 8 at 4 pm.
Singers unable to make the first rehearsal are still welcome to join. Don Frazure, GU’s Director
of Choral Activities, will direct the performance and provide music and rehearsal tracks to help
singers learn their parts at home between rehearsals.
The Greenville Choral Union is a collaboration between the Greenville University Choir and
singers throughout the region.
