Financial aid package results in changed life

Having grown up in Corcoran, California, it wasn’t easy for Joe Gomez to consider attending a college halfway across the country. But his move to Greenville University was made easier by a generous financial aid package and a built-in support system from caring teammates on the track and cross country teams.

“The financial aid package lifted a big weight off my shoulders,” said Gomez, who completed an exercise science bachelor’s degree last spring and is now working on a master's degree in coaching. “People who support those financial aid programs may not always know the impact of their donations, but their generosity lifted the financial burden and allowed me to attend GU."

“It was here that I met Jesus. And that has changed everything. My teammates, coaches, and friends have been there to encourage me and to help me grow in my faith. But none of that would’ve happened if finances had kept me in California.”
