When I was deciding which college to attend, I was looking for schools that offered strong programs in engineering and music. Greenville University has both – plus many other activities that were important to me. Other schools offered those programs, too, but I didn’t feel a connection there. Here there is community; I feel like I belong.
The scholarships offered by GU (Mosaic and choir) allowed me to pursue my passions without piling up a lot of debt. I will graduate next spring with a double major in audio engineering and organizational leadership and a minor in digital media. During my time here, I’ve participated in choir and other musical groups on campus. I’m also Google IT Certified and have worked at the GU Information Technology desk.
The choir’s trip to England and Ireland changed my life. We sang in some beautiful places – particularly York Minster Cathedral – and I remember being moved to tears as we performed. On another occasion, I got to sing in Nashville.
When I graduate, I will do so with many marketable skills, lots of hands-on experience, and a broad resumé of musical performances. That’s what I call a well-rounded education.
