GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY HOSTS CHEER & DANCE KIDS CAMP TO STRENGTHEN TIES WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

Greenville University's Spirit Squad is excited to invite young participants from K-8th grade to the Greenville Cheer & Dance Kids Camp on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the H.J. Long Gymnasium.

GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY HOSTS CHEER & DANCE KIDS CAMP  TO STRENGTHEN TIES WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITYThe camp, open to boys and girls, promises an evening of fun, learning, and inspiration. Participants will gain hands-on experience in cheerleading and dance fundamentals.

The $39participation feeincludes snacks and a T-shirt. Participants will also perform at the Greenville Universityhomefootball game on Saturday, October 12, at 11a.m.

Stephanie Brant, head coach of the GU Spirit Squad, highlights the significance of this camp in connecting the university to the local community.

"It provides our team the opportunity to mentor the youth of the Greenville community through our love of cheerleading and dance," Brant shares.

The Spirit Squad, known for its enthusiasm and pride in Greenville University, aims to ignite young participants' passion for cheer and dance, and for their own teams as they grow up.

"We hope that the Spirit Squad members can inspire each participant through the passion they see in us," says Brant.

The camp provides children with a unique opportunity to see firsthand the dedication and spirit the GU athletes bring to their sport, helping them build confidence and connections.

BUILDING BRIDGES WITH LOCAL FAMILIES

Brant emphasizes the camp's role in fostering a welcoming environment for local families. "It's important to offer these events to kids in the local community so they know that our campus is welcoming and inviting. Our goal is to help local families feel valued and included," she explains.

Events like this help create lasting bonds between the university and local families. Many of them return year after year, forming a tradition of engagement and involvement.

ENCOURAGING COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

"This camp connects to the university and its athletic programs by encouraging participation and building relationships between coaches, athletes, and community members," Brant says.

The camp culminates with a special performance at the GU football game. The young participants will cheer alongside the Spirit Squad and showcase their new skills.

"The performance brings the kids and their families out to see our athletes in action. The families witness our love for sport and deepen connection to theUniversity," Brant adds.
