Greenville University’s most prestigious academic honor—the President’s Citation Award—is given annually to a graduating senior who demonstrates academic excellence within a Christian liberal arts framework.

This year’s recipient, Callie Adkins, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of science in psychology and a bachelor of social work. A double major and standout scholar, Callie reflected on her journey at GU with gratitude and hope.

“I will absolutely miss the community—that is something I will always hold on to,” Adkins said. “But [GU] has truly prepared me for what God is calling me to do next. I’m excited for the future—nervous—but I know everything I’ve been taught here has been great preparation.”

Faculty members praised both her intellect and integrity.

Professor Rich Beans, associate professor of psychology, said, “Callie consistently went above and beyond in her studies, striving not just for knowledge but deep understanding. She actively integrated her Christian faith with the study of psychology.”

Professor Helo Oidjarv, associate professor of social work, has worked with Adkins since her first semester. “Her work is exceptional, and her emotional and spiritual maturity goes far beyond her years,” Professor Oidjarv said. “It’s been a privilege to walk alongside her.”
