Lainee Loskot, a junior agribusiness major at Greenville University, is carving out a unique academic path. As a Panther Scholar and student of the equine program, Lainee embodies the values of character and service that GU seeks to instill in all students.
She’s building her future while exploring ways to give back, and her journey to Greenville has been anything but typical.
DISCOVERING GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY AND THE PANTHER SCHOLARSHIP
Initially unsure if college was financially feasible, Lainee's journey to GU began with a chance encounter. When Greenville's worship team visited her high school, a faculty member encouraged her to attend the University’s Scholarship Day. Though skeptical, she took the leap, which changed her life.
“I had never been on a college visit,” she reflects, but she left campus that day with a full tuition Panther Scholarship, an award that made her dreams of a college education a reality. For Lainee, it felt like a direct answer to prayer, a sign that God had a plan for her at Greenville.
Victoria Clark, Vice President of Enrollment, said that as soon as she met Lainee, she knew GU was the place for her.
“I first met Lainee at her high school at a recruiting event. Even from that first meeting, I knew that Lainee was exceptional. A few weeks later, she was the unanimous choice for a full tuition scholarship," Clark said. "In a time where people run away from hard work and hard tasks, Lainee runs toward them. Her character and work ethic are unmatched. She shines Jesus's love and hope to everyone she meets."
A HEART FOR SERVICE AND EQUINE PROGRAM’S IMPACT
Lainee has wholeheartedly embraced the GU mission, combining her studies with her love of horses. She is pursuing a minor in equine-assisted services, where she will learn skills for certification in equine therapy.
"The equine program aligns so well with GU's mission of character and service," she says. "It uses horses to help others, especially those with disabilities or who are overcoming trauma."
Her involvement in the equine program also led to a position with GU admissions, where she recruits new students. Whether giving campus tours or helping with barn management, Lainee shares her passion with prospective students to encourage them to join the community that means so much to her.
A FOUNDATION OF FAITH AND EDUCATION
Coming from Faith Bible Christian Academy, a small faith-based high school, Lainee appreciates Greenville's Christian foundation and close-knit environment. Her path has been deeply influenced by mentors at Faith Bible and the support she’s found in the GU community.
For Lainee, Greenville is more than a place to learn—it’s a place to grow her faith and refine her calling. “I felt God moving when I walked on this campus. I knew this was where He wanted me to be.”
EXPLORING FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES
While she’s still deciding the exact shape of her career, Lainee sees a future rooted in communications within the agricultural industry. From her experience working at a radio station to interacting with GU's admissions team, she’s developed strong skills in people-oriented roles.
“I’ve thought about journalism, maybe sales,” she says. “I love working with people and sharing stories, so maybe agribusiness communications is where I’ll go.”
A THANKFUL HEART AND COMMITMENT TO THE COMMUNITY
Lainee appreciates the opportunities at GU and is grateful to the donors and alumni who make scholarships possible. "Thank you, but it doesn't seem like enough," she says. God has worked through the generosity of so many people to change my life."
She has taken this gratitude into her work, serving on the Panther Scholar leadership team and co-founding “Donate to Elevate," a project that gives back to the local community.
