Accounting, BS

Greenville University's accounting program is uniquely designed to train future accountants and business leaders by equipping students with skills and expertise to set them apart in the business world. As such, we aim to provide students with advanced knowledge and training in accountancy, believing that ideas can transform students' lives for work and prosperity in their communities. As a strengths-based program, Greenville celebrates the God-given characteristics that make students unique, and we empower our students to use and develop their interests and talents.

Biology, BA

The biology major prepares students for careers in medical professions, food and quality control, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, biological research, and more. Biology is a growing field with new breakthroughs in genomics, medicine, molecular biology, and biotechnology. Our faculty achieve the highest knowledge and technical skills, contribute significantly to their chosen fields, and honor the Creator in their work.

Pre-professional programs related to biology include our pre-medical curriculum and pre-nursing curriculum, where you can earn a dual degree: a bachelor of arts with a major in biology and a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) with one of our nursing partnership programs.

Business Management, BS

Offered through the Briner School of Business, the business management degree delivers a foundation of core business topics. Students complete hands-on coursework, analyze industry challenges, and develop thoughtful solutions. Guided by a faculty of business experts, you will learn how to create a collaborative work environment that brings out the best in your employees. Better yet, you will practice those environments through group projects in which you solve real-world business issues and work with real business partners.

Greenville University’s business management degree helps you improve outcomes for your business and the world. Through a curriculum grounded in Christian leadership, you will gain skills to lead with integrity while working toward organizational goals.

Criminal Justice, BS

This program provides a Christ-centered approach to studying criminal justice and will prepare you for a career in the criminal justice system or continued studies in graduate school or law school. Society relies on an effective criminal justice system; you’ll learn to use your God-given talents to provide professional and Christ-centered contributions within this exciting and important field.

In this program, students may:

  • Attend court in progress at Madison County and Bond County Courthouses
  • Attend drug court in Marion Count
  • Tour St. Louis County Police Headquarters and Training Academy
  • Tour St. Louis Crime Lab
  • Attend a Forensic Conference

Early Childhood Education, BS

A bachelor of science in early childhood education (ECE) prepares you to teach children from birth through age eight. You’ll learn to create developmentally appropriate, child-centered, and play-based experiences for young children. Learn to educate the whole child and serve families in the process by helping them engage in their children's education. Gain hands-on experience teaching real children, participating in 300+ field hours through GU’s Kindergarten Readiness Program (KRP) and in diverse settings with partnering school districts. Double major in early childhood and elementary education to expand your options and be licensed to teach through 6th grade.

Elementary Education , BS

Prepare to teach in a 21st-century learning environment with Greenville University’s Bachelor of Science in elementary education. Enjoy a rigorous program embedded with multiple opportunities for hands-on experience in various learning environments. Learn to educate the whole child as you study best practices and time-honored pedagogical approaches. The mission of our program is to train teachers to be servant leaders in a culturally diverse world.

English, BA

Explore the “literary life” and build professional and creative skills in a faith-based environment as you pursue a bachelor of arts in English. Write for publications like The Vista magazine, The Papyrus digital newspaper, The Scriblerus literary magazine, and Pod Lab, a platform for podcast production. Prepare for global citizenship as a critical thinker, careful reader, arts advocate, and dedicated professional.

Exercise Science, BS

This program helps you build a strong foundation in health and fitness knowledge by combining courses from the basic sciences with courses from the exercise sciences and internship experience. Develop marketable skills critical in the growing fields of health, fitness, medicine, athletic training, and physical and occupational rehabilitation.

History, BA

Study the past to understand the present better! The bachelor of arts in history equips you to succeed in graduate school or in a wide range of professions that require critical thinking, clear communication, and ethical conduct. These include politics, government, business, education, public, media, etc.

The foundation of the History major consists of a sequence of introductory courses in world history and American history. Students build on this foundation through several upper-level electives on topics ranging from the ancient Mediterranean world through the contemporary United States. The program culminates in one of two options for a capstone experience: History majors can choose between writing a work of original historical research under the guidance of our faculty, or they can complete an internship experience that involves practical historical work with an outside organization or institution.

Mathematics, BA

Mathematics at Greenville University prepares students for many different callings. Our emphasis on precise deductive thought, problem-solving, careful communication, and working with technology prepares you to move comfortably into many fields.

Many graduates of our mathematics program pursue graduate work in mathematics, and many pursue teaching. Yet an even greater number head into diverse fields such as telecommunications, computing, medicine, the aerospace industry, statistics, accounting, and actuarial science.

Double majoring in mathematics and almost any other major is possible, leading to even more powerful preparation for what and where you are being called. Mathematics graduates have even leveraged their training to serve the world in diverse careers as ministers, professional artists, lawyers, and coaches.

Marketing, BS

Want a degree with vast employment opportunities? Every for-profit or non-profit organization needs people with marketing skills and insights. No matter your industry of interest­ transportation, sport, health, retail, music, agriculture, or construction ­– a marketing career is there for you. Learn about marketing strategies, customer research, buyer behavior, promotion, advertising, sales, social media, content creation, and more. This degree also pairs well with others on campus as you build your unique skill set.

Middle Grades Education, BS

A bachelor of science in middle grades education prepares and licenses you for a career teaching students in grades 5-8. You can expand your options to teach various grade levels by adding a second major in elementary or secondary education.

The middle grades education program tracks include language arts, science, social studies, and math. More than 300 hours of field experience in middle-grade classrooms ensure that you will enter this rewarding field fully equipped.

Psychology, BS

Are you curious about the human mind? Turn your curiosity into a career. Learn why we behave the way we do, how we learn, how we manage conflict, how we understand our own personality and that of others, and how our emotions function. We will help you lay the foundation for a career in people-oriented professions like counseling and other social services, teaching, and basic and applied research fields and prepare you for graduate study in any of these fields.

In this program, students often:

  • Attend various lectures and symposiums featuring prominent figures in many sub-fields of psychology
  • Travel to the National Museum of Psychology
  • Attend theatrical productions dealing with psychology and spiritual themes.

Social Work, BSW

The Social Work program at GU will provide preparation in social work from a Christian perspective and training for lives of effective and redemptive service in a culturally diverse society and world.

The Social Work Program is designed to provide foundational courses that students will take to establish their knowledge base and electives in various courses that will challenge them to think critically about issues affecting diverse population groups. Special attention is given to studying special population groups, including racial and ethnic minorities, those with disabilities, the elderly, children, and victims of oppression and injustice.

Application of knowledge is a vital component. All social work students will complete an internship where they will be challenged to integrate classroom knowledge with practical experience.

Greenville University's Social Work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s Board of Accreditation.

Accreditation of a baccalaureate work program by the Council on Social Work Education’s Board of Accreditation indicates that it meets or exceeds the criteria for assessing program quality evaluated through a peer review. An accredited program has sufficient resources to meet its mission and goals. The Board of Accreditation has verified that it complies with all sections of the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards.

Accreditation applies to all program sites and program delivery methods of an accredited program. Accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.

Special Education, BS

Prepare to make a difference by teaching students with disabilities in kindergarten through grade 12. Learn diagnostic and teaching methods for curriculum and classroom management, skills for communicating with colleagues and parents, and how to teach in diverse classrooms.

Sport Management, BS

Develop skills that prepare you for various career paths, including coaching, athletic administration, marketing, recreational programming, sports information, officiating, sports law, and more. Learn about critical issues in the sports world, develop solid communication skills, integrate your faith with your work, and acquire experience in your field.

Master’s Degree Programs

Designed for working professionals, our online Master in Business Administration and Master of Science in Management programs allow for professional advancement at your own pace. Our state-of-the-art online learning platform allows you to submit work and collaborate with professors and peer professionals.
